PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood test DRE (Digital Rectal Exam) If DRE finding or PSA level is abnormal a TRUS (trans rectal ultrasound guided) biopsy is recommended Follow up for Negative biopsies is repeating the PSA test periodically

Patients with elevated Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA) level >4 Negative prior trans-rectal ultrasound-guided biopsy with continued elevation or rising PSA Positive digital rectal examination with negative trans-rectal ultrasound-guided biopsy

MRI / Ultrasound fusion – guided prostate biopsy offers a comprehensive solution with a cutting edge imaging option for many patients with elevated and/or rising PSA levels. Saint Francis Hospital – Memphis is the first to bring this powerful solution to patients in the mid-south. Prostate MRI images taken can potentially identify specific areas within the gland that are suspicious and require further evaluation. Performing this biopsy with the MRI / Ultrasound fusion is able to target the suspicious areas or lesions.

What is a Blue Light Cystoscopy with Cysview?

Blue Light Cystoscopy with Cysview is a technology that significantly improves the detection of nonmuscle invasive papillary cancer of the bladder as an adjunct to white light compared to traditional whitelight cystoscopy alone. Cysview (hexaminolevulinate HCl) is an imaging solution that is delivered into the bladder and is absorbed by cancerous tissue. The doctor performs the cystoscopy by using both white light and blue light. When the doctor switches to blue light, it highlights cancerous tumors and makes them more visible. Using Blue Light Cystoscopy with Cysview in conjunction with white light allows the physician to see more tumors than with standard white light cystoscopy alone

Can Anyone Get Blue-Light Cystoscopy with Cysview?

Blue-Light Cystoscopy with Cysview is recommended for anyone whose doctor suspects or knows that his or her patient has bladder cancer lesions based on a previous cystoscopy

What is a standard cystoscopy?

Standard cystoscopy is a test that allows your doctor to look directly inside your bladder with a scope. A cystoscopy may be used to help find the cause of symptoms, to treat or monitor conditions. Cystoscopy lets the doctor inspect your bladder lining very closely for any abnormal growths or suspicious areas. The entire procedure is done under standard white light.
